Starting from dehydroabietic acid, chiral ethyl 7-(S)-amino-dehydroabietate 6a and ethyl 7-(R)-amino-dehydroabietate 6b were synthesized by esterification, oxidation, imidization, reduction and acidification. The absolute configurations of 6a and 6b were confirmed by X-ray analysis, and the structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, MS and HRMS.
