    Abstract:

Zirconia coatings(ZrO2)were deposited on silicon carbide (SiC) fibers with sol-gel method. The influence of precursor zirconium sol and sintering temperature on ZrO2 coatings was studied in this paper. The phase and morphology of ZrO2 coatings were evaluated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that the desired ZrO2 coatings were fabricated through dipping out SiC fibers with the precursor of concentration of Zr4 cation 1.0mol/L, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) 30wt.% and then heated at 1000℃ for 60min.
