    Abstract:

The complex [Zn2(MPP)2(CH3COO)2]•H2O was synthesized by the reaction of 3-methyl-1-phenyl-5-pyrazolone (HMPP) with zinc acetate. The complex was characterized by means of elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, 1H NMR, thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analyses, and scanning electron microscope. The electrochemical behavior of the complex was investigated by cyclic voltammetric method, finding that the electron transfer process was quasi-reversible. The interaction of the complex with Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) was studied by UV-vis spectroscopy, indicating that the complex combined to BSA by hydrogen bonding and Van Der Waals forces. The adsorption results of the complex to Pb2+ showed that the removal of Pb2+ was up to 99.74% within 40 min using the complex as absorbant.
