    Abstract:

In this work, spiral-shaped carbon nanofibers were grown on nickel foam substrate an integral catalyst support with activity towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER) via a single-step facile (chemical vapor deposition) CVD method. In the three-electrode system with 1 M KOH electrolyte, integral catalytic support CNFs/NF electrode material exhibits a remarkable double layer capacitance Cdl value of 13.69 mF/cm2, which is proportional to the electrochemical surface area (ECSA). By means of electrochemical methods such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and linear scan voltammetry, it is proved that CNFs/NF is a suitable catalyst support with catalytic activity towards OER. CNFs/NF requires 260 mV, 385 mV OER overpotential to achieve 10 mA/cm2 and 100 mA/cm2 current density, respectively.
