Abstract: Novel polyetherimide dielectrics with cross-linked networks were firstly prepared by using
4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether (ODA) and 4,4'-diphenyl ether dianhydride (ODPA) as monomers, and
2,4,6-triaminopyrimidine (TAP) as cross-linker, and then characterized by FTIR, XRD, AFM and SEM. The
dielectric property, breakdown strength and ferroelectric property of the samples obtained were analyzed via
broadband dielectric impedance spectrometer, dielectric breakdown strength tester and ferroelectric analyzer.
The results showed that, with the increase of TAP content (based on the mass of ODA and ODPA, the same
below), the dielectric constant of the cross-linked polyetherimide decreased while the breakdown strength
gradually increased. The breakdown strength of the prepared cross-linked polyetherimide reached 399.4
MV/m at TAP content of 2.0%, 23.3% higher than that of non-cross-linked polyetherimide. Moreover, the
cross-linked networks could inhibit the internal polarization and relaxation loss of polyetherimide, thus
improving the high discharge energy density and charge-discharge efficiency at high temperatures.
